Artist Spotlight - Luke Da Duke

This week's Artist Spotlight is brought to you by the color Red, the letter Q and the coma that I've been in since the Dada Life post.

Video games and pop-culture have been a big part of electronic music for a long time now. As the "nerd mentality" becomes more and more popular, it's about time 18 year-old DJ/producer Luke Da Duke, a.k.a. Lucas Szulansky, starts gaining recognition in the EDM scene. His tracks draw inspiration from classic gaming (especially Nintendo) for everything from catchy hooks and 8-bit melodies to grimy bass drops and riffs that make you smile while rocking out (listen to "Some Cheez Its" and you'll know what I mean). I'm as much of a fan of hardcore electro as the next guy, but I love the fact that there's an artist out there like Luke Da Duke who's music can incorporate gritty bass and a theme that I constantly refer to as 'triumphant'.

What makes Luke stand out in my eyes ears is the fact that right when you think you have his music figured out, he'll throw in something new that you won't see coming. Tracks "Palladio" and "Falcon Punch" stand out in that way, delivering unique takes on dubstep, classical music and falcon-themed punches.

Luke Da Duke's self titled debut EP released yesterday and is available to download for FREE on Soundcloud or you can buy it on Beatport. I've included it below along with several of my favorite tracks (also FREE!) after the jump. Check them out, add them to your library and show Luke some support on his Facebook page!
