Free Music Monday #13!!!!

I would have enjoyed Play-Doh a lot more if it did stuff like this when I was a kid.

Welcome to another edition of FREE MUSIC MONDAY! Your one-stop-shop for free EDM music to get your week started! Normally this is the part where I mention a song or two and elaborate on the positive aspects of their composition and quality... but not this week! This week I'm keeping things short because a gumbo of awesome EDM tracks await you (figuratively of course, don't try to eat your speakers). There's bangers, wobble, pops, growls, grinds everything else that you could hope for! As always these tracks are all FREE! Consider them my gift to your for making it through another Monday. Now scroll down, and remember, it isn't loud enough until you can feel it!

Artist Spotlight - High Scarlet

If you're a frequenter of this blog then you and I share a common drive. One which continually pushes us to find the next new track that, for one reason or another, makes you stop whatever you're doing and either A. Make a thizz face, B. Start bobbing your head to the beat, or C. Blare your speakers and start jumping around your apartment. High Scarlet's songs will make you D. All of the above.

Coming to you from Lancashire, UK, High Scarlet's music ranges from progressive electro to filthy dubstep but it doesn't stop there. Charlie Clough, the sole member of High Scarlet, describes his music as "very tonal and progressive, but at the same time simple and dirty as cat sick", and that is a spot-on analysis. Archetype is a perfect example of this, starting off with a nonchalant piano lead only to throw you off of the face-melting electro drum & bass that drops at 0:47. The remix of Pass Out melds together what may start out as a gritty combination of hip-hop/rap vocals and dubby womp builds into another blend of drum and bass madness backed by relaxed, almost jazzy melodies. Now, don't let those two get you thinking that High Scarlet is strictly a drum & bass machine. Omnicide holds some nasty drops and Weekend Paranoia (first feature in FMM #9) is a polar opposite, delivering dubstep wobble as a subnote to the piano lead.

Now, I usually try to limit myself to 3-4 songs in these posts but I'm going to have to insist that you listen to all 6 of the songs below. I guarantee at least one of those songs will strike a chord with you the same way it has with me. To start it off is the BRAND NEW track High Scarlet released literally hours ago! Want more? It's FREE!! So crank up your speakers and get ready to move!

Free Music Monday #12!!!

Happy New Year everyone! What a better way to start off 2012 than with FREE MUSIC MONDAY #12!! I've been taking some time off and during that time things have been blowing up in the EDM world! Skrillex released his much anticipated Bangarag EP. Sluggo and Helicopter Showdown teamed up to release a joint EP titled We Want It All. And.. AND Zeds Dead released their new Adrenaline EP (I'll try to have links for all three up soon). Meanwhile the rest of us have been gearing up for what could be the year that EDM goes mainstream. Who knows what that means, all I know is it will be one hell of a ride! But enough talk, here's the new Figure track that gets this year's first FMM started with a bang! Crank up the volume and enjoy!!

Free Music Monday #11!!! **Knife Party Special!**

Happy Holiday Explosions Everyone! FREE MUSIC MONDAY is back and what better way to celebrate than with a collection of bangers to get your week started! This week marks the official release of Knife Party's much anticipated "100% No Modern Talking" EP. This London duo initially gained electro/rock-stardom as members of Pendulum, but they've blown up in the world of EDM for consistently delivering massive dubstep, electro and moombahton tracks. You may think you've already heard these songs, but trust me, the ripped copies you've been bumping for the past few months have received a nice twist for their official release!

The free music doesn't stop there! After the jump there's some new tracks from the likes of Skrillex, Figure, Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, Alvin Risk and more! Crank up that volume knob and enjoy!

Figure can't be stopped this Halloween! Teaming up with Mad Decent, the monster music aficionado released this free mix to keep your nights spooky! In his own words:

The Killabits + WEEKLY EVENTS 10/23 - 10/29

Here's some footage of Biz Davis from The Killabits throwing down some monster tunes for the crowd at The Graduate last night. Unfortunately, the flight that Figure was on had to make an emergency landing in Palm Springs. Luckily nobody was injured and The Killabits kept the bass fiends happy by dropping a couple of new Figure songs along with a few new Killabits remixes. Figure also posted on Facebook that he plans on scheduling a make up show in the near future so SLO will get its drumstep fix soon enough!

Artist Spotlight - FIGURE!!!

Today I'm starting an official countdown to what is going to be one of the craziest shows to come to SLO this fall. That's right, I'm talking (well, typing) about Figure @ The Graduate this Saturday! If you haven't heard of Figure then it's about time you start paying attention. Here's what Beatport says about him:

“Scoring positions in Beatport’s top ten charts may have gotten him recognition, but a fantastic amount of praise has been raining down on him lately as some of the leading artists in electronic music have valued his live performance skills as some of the best in the business. It’s those kind of endorsements that load up Figure’s tour calendar...” – Beatportal.com

Lucky for us, we have a chance to see him Saturday night!! Featuring tracks from his new album, Monsters of Drumstep Vol. 2, this Halloween/costume party/explosion is one show you won't want to miss! And if all of that isn't enough to catch your attention, Figure has been giving away FREE tracks left and right! Click "Read more" for a few songs along with a video to give you an idea of what to expect! Designer Drugs + Weekly Events 10/16 - 10/22

This video is just a sample of the chaos that broke out at The Graduate last night during Designer Drugs' set. It was a great time for everyone that came out and I'm even more excited to see INTO THE AM bringing more shows like this to the area.

Be sure to show some love to the amazing openers from last night's show!

Artist Spotlight - Devin Martin

Good morning and happy Friday my fellow bass fiends!!

The artist I'm throwing at you today mixes electro, house, dubstep and drumstep. Devin Martin came out of Orlando, FL, where this sort of hardcore EDM music hasn't been as popular as it is in our neck of the woods...a.k.a. the beach. Luckily this didn't stop him and he eventually gained support from artists such as Figure, Cold Blank, Helicopter Showdown, and Sluggo. With releases soon coming out on Ultragore and Play Me Records, this is one artist to keep your eye on.

Here's a few tracks that should help you push through one more work/school day before the weekend. Turn up the music and start shuffling in your cubicle! Then, when your boss shows up, just say you had an itch in your crotch and you didn't want to offend your coworkers!

*Wolfgang Gartner - The Champ (Devin Martin Remix)*

*Stroke Me Stroke Me - Devin Martin (Remix of Billy Sqier's 'The Stroke')*

*Electro Pirates - Devin Martin*
