This week we're back to basics with a holiday edition of PULSE to get your week sarted and to help some of you get the jump on procrastinating for winter finals. Local Dj Hi Tem makes his PULSE debut with what should be a house filled set to get your feet moving and local favorites John Smith and DevRun are back to bring you the rest of the EDM music that is making MO/TAV and PULSE a hit!

Friday, December 9th - Winter Wonderland Party @ Cielo Cantina
This Friday Cielo Cantina is getting the winter parties started with Mr. White coming up from LA to get the weekend started with plenty of Electro-House beats and ambient vocals along with the occaisional dubstep wobble. Here's a couple of his tracks so you can get an idea what's in store.
*Nicole Scherzinger-Don't Hold Your Breath (DJ Mr. White Remix)*
*Vandalism & Dwight the Young One-Rockin' (In The Place) - DJ Mr. White Remix*
*Atari Teenage Riot-Activate! (DJ Mr. White Remix)*
I would be angry too if I opened a beer and there was water inside.
It's the beginning of the most poultry filled week of the year and what has to be one of my new favorite holidays (college makes you appreciate food the same way Charlie Brown specials make you appreciate Christmas). So now it's time for me to get your week off to a wobbly start with FREE TUNES!
This week I'm featuring songs from some of our local DJ/producers. To begin alphabetically (as Sesame Street insists) we have Audiobit's new track "Superstar", a chill dubstep track with gritty basslines and rasta vocals. Next up is DevRun's "Funstep Edit" of Zedd's title track from his recent album "Shave it". And last but not least is a track by SLO local Nathaniel Rodriguez, titled "Dream". All three tracks are FREE and well worth the listen, so check them out, add them to your library and support the local scene!
Now this wouldn't be FREE MUSIC MONDAY without the normal assortment of bangers, moomba, electro, etc, so don't think I'm stopping now! There's been a ton of great free releases over the past week including a massive collaboration from Helicopter Showdown and Calvertron, aptly named "Drop It Again". The Killabits also felt like pleasing our ears and released a FREE track for reaching 10,000 fans on Facebook. Specimen A is back this week, not with a new track but one of their oldies that I'm obsessed with due to it's 'wompy' bass that reminds me of the tracks that first got me hooked on dubstep. Wrapping it up for 'the dubstep' (as my dad likes to call it), Virtual Riot is making a SLO BASS debut with their space-grime track, "Aliens".
From there things pick up a bit with Paper Diamond's electro thrasher "Can We Go Up" and Will Bailey's joint moomba remix of "Swagga" with Incahoots. And since it's always best to finish with a bang, Onnex and Blende finish up the post with amazing remixes of Porter Robinson & Lazy Rich and Skrillex. Enjoy!
LOCALS
*Audiobit -Superstar*
*Zedd - Shave It (DevRun FunStep Edit)*
*Nasty Nate - Dream*
UPDATE: Apparently there are several DJ/producers in the area going by the name 'Nasty Nate'. When first posting this I got the two of them mixed up. The above track is still a great track but you should also check out the other Nasty Nate's soundcloud page for some sick mixes! Word is he's going to be releasing some new tracks soon!
Note: I'm doing things a little differently this week. In order help the home page load quickly I've moved most of the songs past the "Read More" link. All of your FREE songs are waiting on the other side so click below and get your BASS on!... Okay, I'll admit that sounds a little dirty, but you know what I mean.
Tuesday, November 22nd - HLGNPro & MO/TAV Present: PULSE!
HLGN Productions is back and bringing you another installment of PULSE! This week Nick Cross will be getting the night off to a groovy start with a unique blend of EDM. Then local DJ favorites John Hooligan Smith and DevRun will keep the party going as long as drinks are flowing! Speaking of drinks, there's going to be drink specials all night (and some of the morning) so take this opportunity to party before heading home for the holiday!
Here's a few mixes to give you an idea what to expect.
*Tipsy Online 27 featuring Nick Cross & John Hooligan Smith*
If you've been a part of the SLO EDM scene for any amount of time then you've heard of Audiobit. If you haven't then it's about time you start paying attention because he's going to be annihilating your eardrums before they explode during either Zeds Dead and Laidback Luke. I thought you might like to know the individual responsible for your impaired hearing so I have an exclusive interview with the man himself! When you're done reading there's a few tracks along with Audiobit's winning mix from Con10uum. Enjoy!
SB - What first inspired you to become a DJ/Producer?
Audiobit - I played a bunch of instruments from a young age, and I really wanted to have a band but no one was as serious about it as I was... So when I saw a DJ up there doing it all himself and making music all by himself, I was super interested. Having control of every aspect of songs seemed awesome to me.
What do you like most about the EDM scene in SLO?
Everyone's so dedicated and wants to have a good time! The crowd here just loves it, rain or shine. If you could peform at any show/massive/venue, which one would you choose?
Any insomniac event really, it's been a goal of mine for a while now.
What do you like to do When you're not producing/performing?
I skateboard, hang out with friends, cause mischief, snowboard, jam some guitar, everyday stuff.
Do you have anything special planned for your set this Wednesday?
I'm bringing a good friend of mine on stage to rap to some tunes, its going to be epic! We're working on it right now actually!
Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
Thank you guys so much for the support and everything! You guys are the shit! I wouldn't be here without you.
The last but definitely not least in the lineup for tonight's monster bash is local DJ/producer DevRun. Despite being relatively new to the EDM scene, Devrun has already shared the stage with many big name artists including The Cataracs, HyperCrush, PeaceTreaty and Porter Robinson. His signature mashups feature progressive electro beats and basslines guaranteed to get crowds moving. With a residency at MO/TAV's monthly electro night, PULSE!, and a handful of shows on the way, DevRun is rapidly making a name for himself in SLO. Check out the tracks and mix below and come out tonight to get your shuffle on when DevRun opens for FIGURE and The Killabits!!
*Calvin Harris vs David Guetta - Promise Glasgow (DevRun Mashup)*
*Afrojack, Steve Aoki vs Luis Amani - No Beef on Acid (DevRun Mashup)*
Here's a new mix from Hollywood DJ/producer Freq Status. If you didn't catch his set at PULSE! two weeks ago then you missed out. His electro-house beats got MO/TAV moving ON A TUESDAY! The title of this track is perfect because that's exactly what it makes me want to do when I listen to it, RAGE! Hopefully we'll get to see Freq Status at the next PULSE!. Until then I'm gonna burn this onto my next mix CD (yes, I still burn CD's, it's one way I like to hold onto the 90's) and blare it while cruising around SLO!
This next post comes at you straight from Las Vegas via my boy TOM TOM, (the one on the right looking stoked that Skrillex showed up to do a secret show!!).
---------------------
My first post on a blog so I thought I'd start it right with my favorite tune from Wolfgang Gartner's new "Weekend in America" called Menage A Trois
Big thanks to TOM TOM for the post! He's such a cool dude he even sent me another song for you fiends! Here's the Crizzly remix of Aj Hernz's 'Snap Back Swag'. Enjoy!
Good morning and happy Friday my fellow bass fiends!!
The artist I'm throwing at you today mixes electro, house, dubstep and drumstep. Devin Martin came out of Orlando, FL, where this sort of hardcore EDM music hasn't been as popular as it is in our neck of the woods...a.k.a. the beach. Luckily this didn't stop him and he eventually gained support from artists such as Figure, Cold Blank, Helicopter Showdown, and Sluggo. With releases soon coming out on Ultragore and Play Me Records, this is one artist to keep your eye on.
Here's a few tracks that should help you push through one more work/school day before the weekend. Turn up the music and start shuffling in your cubicle! Then, when your boss shows up, just say you had an itch in your crotch and you didn't want to offend your coworkers!
*Wolfgang Gartner - The Champ (Devin Martin Remix)*
*Stroke Me Stroke Me - Devin Martin (Remix of Billy Sqier's 'The Stroke')*
That's right! It's time for another Free Music Monday, and this time I'm getting right to the good stuff. Turn up your speakers, open your windows, and start annoying your neighbors!
Right off the bat I want to hit you with something hard, and Tremourz has made a name for himself doing just that. J. Rabbit became a household name in the dubstep scene with the release of Sexy Party, but Tremourz remains the unsung hero in that collaboration. Here's his remix of Bassex's 'Sex Drive'. If you aren't a fan of getting filthy, then you might want to listen to this one in the shower.
Bassex is a pretty filthy beast himself, so here's one of his original mixes for your collection.
*Adele - Someone You Like (Bassex Bootleg)*

For the last banger today, I give you Diesel. His drumstep mixes always have a surprise in store and this is definitely no exception. Don't let the jazz piano intro fool you for even a second.
Coming at you from the UK, Far Too Loud brings you fast-paced, hard hitting electro. He has a big following in the UK so it could only be a matter of time before he starts melting faces in the US.
If you didn't check out Restless last week then here's another chance to check out one of my favorite new electro producers. This is his new remix of Kastle's 'I Know'. Be sure to check out his Soundcloud for more awesome tracks and tons of free downloads!

Finally, here's a track I'd love to hear get some play time in the local clubs. The S is an Italian electro duo hellbent on dropping hard tracks. Their new EP 'Death and Rainbows' came out in July and climbed to #3 on the Electro House Beatport charts. It's definitely worth checking out.
Tonight we've got a great show to look forward to! INTO THE AM is back and this time it's AC SLATER that will be shaking the walls at The Graduate. The last few shows were a lot of fun so if you're still trying to figure out what to do tonight, get your friends together and come get your drink/dance on! Tickets are gonna be $15 at the door and there's always great drink specials. Below I've got a download of AC Slater's Triple J Mixup. Rock out to the mix now and come out later to party with AC Slater in person!!!
